Mumbai crime: The officers of Crime Branch Unit 5 of Mumbai Police have busted the interstate gang making fake visas and fake passports. The police have arrested two accused of 32 and 62 years in this case. The arrested accused have been identified as Imtiaz Hanif Shaikh and Sudhir Suryakant Sawant. Both the accused have been sent to police custody till February 4.
DCP Prashant Kadam of Crime Branch said during the press conference that the police had received secret information that the work of making fake passports and visas was going on in a flat in Andheri area of Mumbai. On the basis of secret information, the officials of Crime Branch Unit 5 raided and recovered fake passports of 28 people.
Many objectionable things were found on Mackay
Apart from this, other machines used for making fake passports and visas, fake immigration stamps used for making fake visas of 24 persons from different countries have been recovered. Along with this, fake bank statements of different banks, fake Kovid-19 certificates and many other things have been recovered. According to the police, the accused used to charge Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for making fake passports and visas.
Got bail from a Delhi court
Initial investigation has revealed that both the accused have an old criminal record. In the month of November last year, he got bail from a Delhi court in the crime of making fake passports and visas. According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, this gang provided passports and visas to people from UAE, Mauritius, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa, Maldives, Canada, Istanbul, France and other countries.
Police is investigating
The police is also engaged in gathering information about how many people these people have sent to different countries by making fake visas and passports. Whether these fake passports and visas have been used for underworld or other anti-national activities is also being investigated. The police is also busy gathering information whether the people who were given fake visas and passports were aware that fraud had happened to them.
