WPL 2023: In the fourth match of the Women’s Premier League, RCB team was in front of Mumbai Indians today. Mumbai defeated RCB by 9 wickets in this match. Batting first, the RCB team put 155 runs on the board in this match. Mumbai easily achieved this target in 14.2 overs by losing one wicket. While this is Mumbai’s second consecutive win in the league, it is the second consecutive defeat for RCB’s team.
Mumbai’s second win
For Mumbai, Hayley Mathews scored an unbeaten 77 off 38 balls with the help of 13 fours and 1 six while Nate Seaver Brunt scored an unbeaten 55 off 29 balls which included 9 fours and 1 six. Both of them made a strong partnership of 114 runs in just 54 balls. Earlier, most of the RCB batsmen started well but none of them could play a big innings and their entire team was all out in 18.4 overs.
If RCB managed to reach a challenging score, the credit goes to lower-order batsmen Richa Ghosh (28), Kanika Ahuja (22), Shreyanka Patil (23) and Megan Schutt (20). For Mumbai, off-spinner Mathews took three wickets for 26 runs. He got good support from Saika Ishaq (2/26) and Amelia Kerr (2/30).
Mathews thrashed the bowlers fiercely
Adopted aggressive attitude from the beginning in Mumbai. Along with Mathews, Yastika Bhatia (23 off 19 balls) also hit some sharp shots and shared a 45-run partnership for the first wicket. Preeti Bose then dismissed Yastika but it had no effect on Mathews who hit Megan Schutt for two consecutive fours and then brought up her half-century off 26 balls. Brunt welcomes Shreyanka with three fours. When Shreyanka came to bowl her second over, both of them scored 20 runs in it.
RCB’s second defeat
This is RCB’s second consecutive defeat. He had to face defeat by Delhi Capitals by 60 runs in the first match. RCB’s account is yet to be opened in the points table and they are at the bottom of the table with zero points. At the same time, Mumbai team is on top with 2 wins and four points in 2 matches.
