San Francisco: Tech giant Samsung is upgrading the hinge of its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone. It is believed that after this upgrade, the folding capacity of Galaxy Z Fold 5 will reach beyond 2,00,000. According to a 9to5Google report, Samsung is in the final stages of testing the Z Fold 5’s new ‘waterdrop’ hinge design.

This new technology from Samsung will help the phone’s display to fold inwards. Earlier, due to the tight radius, the phone used to stop when folded. Upgrading the hinge will provide a number of benefits. This will eliminate the problem of gap in folding the phone and due to folding in the display, the incoming line will not be understood.

It is believed that Samsung is also working on the design of Galaxy Z Fold 5 and this smartphone will be thinner than Galaxy Z Fold 4. The report added, “Samsung’s new hinge and display panel will begin testing next week, with build quality testing for 200,000 and 300,000 folds.”

In January this year, tipster Ice Universe claimed that the Z Fold 5 will feature a ‘droplet’ style hinge, which will reduce its display crease. It was also revealed in the leaks that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have a 108-megapixel rear camera at the rear and will have an in-built Stylus Pen (S Pen) slot.
