A private bus carrying girl students on a trip to Manali overturned.
Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh): A private bus carrying a group of Delhi University girl students on a trip to Manali overturned on the Chandigarh-Manali road in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, killing a girl and injuring 40 others. Bilaspur Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Abhishek Kumar Garg said that 44 people, including 35 girl students of Kamla Nehru College and six coordinators, were on board the bus when the accident occurred.
Girls were going on tour
Bilaspur The accident took place on Friday at around 7 am in Kunala, about five kilometers from the city. The accident took place on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway where a bus full of girl students overturned on the spot. During this, the local people also gathered on the spot after hearing the sound and informed the police and ambulance about the accident.
One student crushed to death, four fractured
One girl student, a resident of Jaipur, was crushed to death, while four others suffered fractures and the rest had minor injuries, officials said. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Kushangi Arya. His postmortem will be done at the district hospital. He told that passers-by took the injured out of the bus and took them to Bilaspur Regional Hospital. He said that one of the injured passengers was shifted to PGI Chandigarh and two to AIIMS Bilaspur.
