
If you are also one of those lakhs of sugar and blood pressure patients who have to take expensive medicines, then good news has come for you from the government. The government’s drug regulatory agency NPPA has fixed the prices of 74 drugs used in the treatment of these complex diseases to provide relief to the people suffering from them. Apart from this, the prices of 80 medicines used in the treatment of epilepsy have also been fixed.
Drug prices regulator NPPA on Monday said it has fixed the retail price of 74 drugs, including drugs for the treatment of diabetes and hypertension. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the prices of drugs under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order 2013 based on the decision taken in the 109th meeting of the Authority held on 21st February.
These medicines became cheaper
As per the notification, NPPA has fixed the price of one tablet of Dapagliflozin Sitagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride (Extended-Release Tablet) at Rs 27.75. Similarly, the drug price regulator has fixed the price of one tablet of blood pressure lowering drug telmisartan and bisoprolol fumarate at Rs 10.92. The NPPA has also revised the ceiling price of 80 scheduled drugs (NLEM 2022), including drugs used in the treatment of epilepsy and neutropenia. NPPA enforces as well as amends the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order.
