Harbhajan Singh said in his YouTube video that Australia’s biggest mistake was not including Agar in the playing XI for the Nagpur Test. He said that the Australian team was looking blank. Left arm spinner Ashton Agar was released. But he could have been a better choice. Australia played 2 off-spinners which was a big mistake. Agar is a talented bowler.
Australian team did not practice
Australia entered the series against India on the back of a 10-match winning streak, but suffered big defeats in Nagpur and New Delhi in 3 days. The Australian team entered the first Test in Nagpur without playing any warm-up matches. Australia claimed that its camps in Sydney and Alur in Karnataka were sufficient for it. Australia made some surprising selection decisions which included leaving out batsman Travis Head for the first Test in Nagpur. Australia lost the First Test by an innings and 132 runs and the Second Test by six wickets.

Australia were troubled by injuries to their key players Mitchell Starc, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Swepson. They called in left arm spinner Matthew Kuhneman and dropped David Warner and Hazlewood while Swepson returned home due to the birth of her child. With Pat Cummins returning home, Steve Smith will now lead the Australian team.

The Australian team management has sent Agar home to play domestic cricket. Agar’s return to the Test side after a long hiatus ended without bowling a single ball in the match. Australian selector Tony Dodemide has defended the decision to drop Agar. Agar will play in Western Australia’s next Sheffield Shield match on March 2 and the Marsh Cup final on March 8.
